LGBTI LEGACY GAMES

The experiences encountered by Phuti birthed the idea of hosting a tournament that aims at raising awareness and education on the issues of discrimination and rejections of homosexual athletes and to also create the safe space for gay footballers and fans.

The Phuti Lekoloane Foundation will host the LGBTI Legacy Games Tournament annually in March, the tournament will be under the LGBTI banner. The inauguration of the 1st Edition is scheduled for the 21st to 22nd March 2020 and 28th to 29th March 2020. The tournament will comprise of 16 Teams playing knockout stages, and a curtain raiser for the final will include two SAFA National Women's League teams and or Sasol League teams. Football has been known as a tool used for bringing peace, love and unity in humans, football brings people together and it gives people the opportunity to interact with each other whilst debating on several issues. We would like to use this platform to educate people about inclusion and equality. People need to understand that football has no boarders, and should be everyone's game.

PLF SPORTSMANIA

Phuti Lekoloane Foundation will host a Sportsmania event every year in September. The founder of the Foundation has proved to be a man of many talents. Prior to him being well established and known in the football fraternity as the 1st openly gay footballer in Africa many knew him as a netball player. It is through playing netball that his handling skills have become seamless. The Foundation’s aim is to advocate for inclusion and acceptance, therefore athletes from all sporting codes and activities are catered for

DIALOGUE & MENTORSHIP

Phuti Lekoloane Foundation has partnered with great allies in the LGBTI community and the heterosexual community, it is through these partnerships that the Foundation will be able to provide substantial information required to rally the message and to accomplish its mission.

The Foundation will target schools, sports teams and conduct workshops to educate communities about inclusion, equality, acceptance, respect, cohesion and unity within the LGBTI community. Through these seminars, the Foundation will offer support to those who are in the closet and those who are out. Most importantly the Foundation will offer mentorship and support to the young and upcoming LGBTI athletes. Phuti Lekoloane Foundation’s Director, Goitseone Kekana is a Master Life Coach with her great qualifications and experience she is the perfect personage to conduct mentorship with the athletes and or youth to discover their greater life purpose, and capitalize on their talents and skills. To help them understand their personality, empower their beliefs, choose the career path and live passionate and meaningful lives. Together with other allies who are vastly qualified and experienced in the same field and more, we will be able to achieve our objectives and goals.

GOALKEEPER & NETBALL CLINICS

Phuti Lekoloane Foundation will host clinics annually with the aim of having a Goalkeepers academy. We will invite professional and qualified coaches to offer special training involved in the game to perform at the highest level. The purpose of the specialty clinic is to give each athlete an opportunity to receive focused, intense, position-specific technique training.

PLF SUPPORT LINE

PLF Support Line is a facility that offers non-judgemental listening services to the LGBTI community who are in crisis situations. This services will be offered through call-in on a phone line, online, private sessions (one-on-one), email, peer support chat via WhatsApp. Our Support Line will operate 24/7 to provide information and support to the LGBTI community and athletes.

BOOTS4RURALS CAMPAIGN

The Phuti Lekoloane Foundation’s Director and Founder, Phuti Lekoloane was born in Moletji Polokwane in the Capricorn District Municipality the largest in Limpopo province. This is where he has experienced playing football in the streets with no shoes and or soccer boots. It is through this experience that this campaign was conceived. It is hypothesised that young boys and girls who are talented in sports considering that the most common dream career for the young ones especially in disadvantaged communities is being a professional footballer, they do not have adequate equipment to be motivated enough

The Phuti Lekoloane Foundation will be running a social media challenge, challenging current and legend soccer players and soccer clubs to donate to the course. Barefoot Campaign aims to collect +500 soccer boots annually to donate to 10 different schools in the rural areas; with a minimum of 50 soccer boots donated per school.

BOOTS4RURALS CAMPAIGN

He is a young boy from moletjie that we saw his pictures making rounds on social media, Phuti Lekoloane tracked him down, and organisee a meet and greet with Ts Galaxy Goalkeeper coach and Phuti Lekoloane Foundation Advisory board member and he was given RG gloves.

#NOTOHOMOPHOBIA CAMPAIGN

The Phuti Lekoloane Foundation will lead the way in trying to establish an inclusive environment for everyone within all sporting codes, tackling all types of discrimination, more especially homophobia in sports. The #NoToHomophobia is a Phuti Lekoloane Foundation’s campaign where athletes partake by wearing Rainbow colours and the sports facilities branded with the Rainbow colour flags/banners, to show their support for LGBTI equality.

This campaign celebrates LGBTI communities and helps to start conversations about how we can improve LGBTI inclusion across sports so that they become everyone’s game. Phuti Lekoloane Foundation will work with sporting organisations to foster an inclusive environment for the LGBTI community to feel safe and comfortable.
